Barry Jenkins (Miami, 1979) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film from Florida State University. He directed and co-wrote the drama Moonlight in 2016, which garnered universal critical acclaim and won numerous accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Picture and the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay with Tarell Alvin McCraney. His third feature If Beale Street Could Talk in had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
